Megan Rapinoe writes a letter protesting against the United States’ Protection of Girls and Women in Sports Act

Megan Rapinoe and partner Sue Bird, and 40 other athletes from various sports filed a complaint to the Legislative Department. The letter was a protest petition against The Protection of Girls and Women in Sports Act. 

The Act supposedly provides benefits to women and girls in sport and caused greater disaster. The American national team player says in the letter how the Act will be rather detrimental to the progress of women in sports. The Act has provisions that prevent the woman from getting benefits with regard to health and mental well-being. 

The OL Reign forward requests the legislature to bring changes by providing rights to all genders. It is not new how women are deprived of an equal pay scale. The 37-year-old also says that for centuries women have been harassed even in the field of sports. It is the desire to do justice to what the evolving society demands. 

The letter addresses concerns for LGBTQ+ people. The American soccer star wants proper implementation of Title IX. Their only demand is to think for the kids of transgender and intersex.

Will Megan Rapinoe play in the upcoming World Cup?

Megan Rapinoe will turn 38 in the upcoming World Cup. The soccer star will be present in the squad given her experience in the game. The OL Reign player might not be seen playing full-time but may come in crucial points to display expertise. 

Megan Rapinoe has always been a big name when it comes to the United States squad. She has played in five matches back in 2019. The then 33-year-old scored six goals and assists helping the national team squad to lift the trophy. Rapinoe sealed the Women’s Player of the Year by FIFA back in 2019. 

The 37-year-old star has been a crucial character in sports. She has actively taken the initiative for gender neutralities in the game of soccer. The OL Reign player has always been a face of protest and voice for dominated and abused characters in sports.
