“Much greater than you can imagine” – Neymar highlights qualities that makes Cristiano Ronaldo a threat at the 2022 FIFA World Cup
The Manchester United great has over 700 club goals in his career, holds the record for most goals scored in international football history, and has five Ballon d’Or and five Champions League titles. However, this season is not going as expected. There have been numerous off-field problems, including a preseason that was derailed, a transfer rumor-filled summer, and a tense relationship with the new manager Erik ten Hag.
It came to a boil when Ronaldo, 37, refused to come off the bench and left the stadium early during a 2-0 win over Tottenham in October. The Dutch tactician has left Ronaldo out of the starting lineup in a number of high-profile games.
However, Brazillian captain Neymar believes Cristiano Ronaldo can still cause problems at the World Cup. The PSG star has previously expressed his interest in playing alongside Ronaldo in club level when the opportunity arises. “The will that Cristiano possesses, the personality and the confidence, is much greater than you can imagine,” Neymar said referring the Portuguese great.

Erik ten Hag recently admited Cristiano Ronaldo being Manchester United’s fourth choice captain
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has acknowledged that Cristiano Ronaldo was his fourth choice to lead the team against Aston Villa on Sunday. Unexpectedly, Ronaldo, who has already run into trouble with disciplinary action this season with Ten Hag, was selected United’s captain for the trip to Villa Park, which resulted in a shocking 3-1 loss on Unai Emery’s return to the Premier League.
Ten Hag gave an explanation of how Ronaldo got the starting nod following the game. “Harry Maguire is on the bench, our captain of the club,” he began. “Then it is about David de Gea who is a leader but is a goalie and is far away from the outfield. Then Casemiro is the leader but he is not speaking perfect English so then Cristiano is the leader.”
