The Netherlands eliminated the USMNT from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the opening game of the round of 16 and for their performance against the USMNT, they won plaudits from all over the world. Many people raised an eyebrow when Memphis Depay posted text between him and Steve Harvey in a tweet.

Lori Harvey, the youngest daughter of Steve Harvey, and Memphis Depay once dated each other. They got engaged in 2017 after dating for a year. On social media, Steve Harvey personally shared the news and expressed delight for the couple. Despite the fact that they split up in 2018, Mr. Harvey was nonetheless supportive of Depay’s performance in the match against the USMNT.

Memphis Depay played a crucial role in Netherlands’ win over the United States

In the 10th minute, Memphis Depay scored after a cutback from Denzel Dumfries. Daley Blind and Dumfries added two more goals, securing the Dutch team a 3-1 victory against the US. Despite frequently dominating in terms of possession, USMNT was eliminated because they failed to capitalize on their opportunities. The Netherlands have finished in runner-ups three times and are yet to win the coveted accolade. The most recent occasion they came close to winning was in the 2010 finals when they lost to the all-conquering Spanish team. 

Memphis Depay missed the opening match against Senegal due to a hamstring injury he had before the World Cup. Depay played as a substitute against Ecuador in the second game and started Netherlands’ final group game against Qatar. They now face Messi-led Albicelestes which now looks like a mouth-watering tie. The quarterfinal matchup between Argentina and Netherlands will now take place on Saturday, December 10.
