“Next time, Robert Lewandowski will score the chances he missed” – Barcelona defender warns Bayern Munich for second clash in Champions League despite defeat

“Next time, Robert Lewandowski will score the chances he missed” – Barcelona defender warns Bayern Munich for second clash in Champions League despite defeat

Barcelona were handed their first loss of the new season on Wednesday as old foes Bayern Munich defeated them 2-0 at the Allianz Arena in the UEFA Champions League. Barca dominated play for the majority of the first half and produced numerous excellent opportunities that they did not take advantage of.

Those errors would come back to haunt Xavi and his side as Leroy Sane made it 2-0 before Lucas Hernandez gave Die Roten the lead early in the second half. Barcelona tried to come back into the match but were unsuccessful as they fell to the Bavarians for the fifth straight time.

Lewandowski missed several key chances to score against his former employers as Barcelona lost at the Allianz Arena. Lewandowski, 34, spurned several golden opportunities to score in the first half while Barcelona carried the momentum, allowing Bayern to turn the game around after the break. It was not the homecoming he would have wanted.

“Next time, Lewandowski will score the chances he missed today,” Kounde said on the missed chances by the Polish striker. “We competed very well. It’s about details. What we lacked are goals. We got a little lost in the corner, and conceded a second goal shortly after.”

Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski was ‘wasteful’ in front of goal against Bayern Munich

Robert Lewandowski had some joy pressing from the front and linked nicely with his colleagues. However, wasted great chances to put his side ahead and it ultimately cost them on his return to his old stomping ground.

The Polish forward has already bagged nine goals since swapping Munich for Barcelona in the summer and has the chance to get back on the scoresheet on Saturday against Elche. He’ll also have one eye on Bayern’s visit to Camp Nou on October 26.
