Neymar Jr, one of the best footballers the world has seen in the last decade, has been plagued with injuries. Since joining Paris Saint Germain in 2017 for a record-breaking transfer, he has missed 153 matches due to injuries for club and country. In the October international break, Neymar completely tore his anterior cruciate ligament and also suffered a tear in his meniscus. With his season now finished, the Brazilian has shared a video of his recovery process on his Instagram.
In the video, viewers can see Neymar going through physiotherapy but is not able to handle the pain. While straightening his leg, he shouts in pain as he can’t handle the pain. The 31-year-old is also seen spending time with his newborn daughter, Mavie, during breaks, letting her sleep on his chest.
With his ACL and meniscus now ruptured, there is a good chance Neymar won’t return to football till the 24/25 season. He will most likely be deregistered by his club, Al-Hilal, as the Saudi Pro League only allows 8 foreign players in a squad. They will return to Europe to find a replacement, but the Brazilian will return for the Riyadh-based club.
Al-Hilal aims to replace Neymar with this Barcelona Star!
With Neymar set to be deregistered, Al-Hilal have already shortlisted many players to replace the injured winger. One of the players on their shortlist is Brazilian winger, Raphinha, who currently is employed by FC Barcelona.
Raphinha has scored only 2 goals and assisted twice in all competitions this season. Al-Hilal did attempt to sign Raphinha in the summer transfer window, but the player did not want to move to Saudi back then. But the club remains persistent, as reports suggest they are still looking to sign him.
They are also linked with the English winger, Jadon Sancho, who has had a very public falling out with Erik ten Hag. Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian forward at Napoli, is also a strong candidate.
