Brazilian star Neymar Jr. responded to an Instagram post mocking PSG forward Ousmane Dembele, with a cryptic laughing emoji. The viral post criticized the French forward for his goal-scoring woes since joining the Ligue 1 outfit in 2023.
Dembele joined PSG for a fee of €50.4 million from La Liga giants Barcelona. The winger has not faced an injury since his move to Paris, which was something that seemed impossible at Barcelona. Despite an injury-free campaign, he has scored only one goal and assisted nine in 28 appearances for the club. It has been an underwhelming return from the 26-year old forward, in spite of the player being a regular starter under manager Luis Enrique.
In a viral Instagram post by a Neymar Jr. fan account, it depicted an interesting stat which showed that the Brazilian has scored more goals for PSG this season, than Dembele. Neymar, before leaving PSG to join Al-Hilal, scored two goals at the onset of the 2023-24 season, against Nantes in the final of the French Super Cup. Interestingly, the 32-year old star seems to have mocked Dembele by replying to the post with a brutal laughing emoji.
Dembele will be hoping to improve on his stats, and end his 12-match goal drought for PSG. In contrast, Neymar scored 118 goals in 173 appearances for PSG before moving to the SPL. He scored 28 goals in his very first season at the club.
Neymar Jr. assists s*xual assault convict and ex-Barca teammate Dani Alves with €150,000
Neymar Jr. and is family were criticized by fans for lending Dani Alves €150,000, to pay as compensation to the s*xual assault victim. The ex-Brazilian right-back was sentenced to four-and-a-half years and fined for r*pe and s*xual assault of a 23-year woman at a Barcelona night-club in 2022.
The four-year-and-six-month prison term for s*xual assault sparked reactions from different sectors, with the Brazilian government deeming it ‘lenient’ for such a heinous crime. Alves originally faced a potential prison term of 9 to 12 years. However, the sentence was decreased after agreeing on a compensation, before the trial. Alves secured the compensation money with assistance from Neymar Jr.
Both Neymar and Alves were a part of FC Barcelona and the Brazilian national team, and had a memorable relationship both on and off the pitch.
