Official: Arsenal sign Porto midfielder Fabio Viera for €35 million + add ons

Arsenal has completed the signing of Porto’s attacking midfielder, Fabio Viera for a fee of €35 million. The deal also includes another €5 million in add-ons. As reported by Fabrizio Romano The 22-year-old joins Arsenal on a 5-year deal and will fly to London in the next hours for his medical.

Fabio Viera becomes Arsenal’s first signing of the summer as the Gunners are still in the market for more midfielders. Youri Tielemans is a priority for Arsenal while Ruben Neves is also a possibility. Mikel Arteta is desperate to add a midfielder to partner with Thomas Party in the middle of the park.

Fabio Viera was involved in 20 goals in 15 starts for Porto last season

It is not a surprise that Arsenal decided to sign the Portuguese midfielder from Porto. Last season, Fabio Viera managed 6 goals and 14 assists in 27 appearances of which only 15 were starts.

Only 22, Fabio Viera has a lot of years to develop and become a strong player for Arsenal. The left-footed player can play as an attacking midfielder or a right-sided midfielder as well.

However, Arsenal is not done in the transfer window yet. They still need a midfielder and a striker. Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus is one of the possibilities but Arsenal could also buy cheap and sign Gianluca Scamacca who scored 16 goals in Serie A last season.
