On this day three years ago, Liverpool pulled out an epic comeback at the Anfield to eliminate Barcelona after they cut off a 3-0 deficit from the first leg to win 4-3 on aggregate.

Klopp’s side defeated Barcelona 4-0 in one of the epic games to reach the Champions League final in the 2018-29 season. The Reds produced a relentless performance in front of their home fans to reach a second consecutive UCL final by overturning the tied on its heads. 

Barcelona outplayed the English side in the first leg at Camp Nou after Messi’s brilliant free-kick as they led 3-0 in the first leg of the semifinal. Liverpool believed throughout the game that they could overturn the game and pressed hard until seven minutes when Origi scored the first goal of the night which started their run.

Wijnaldum then scored twice within the time gap of two minutes to bring the score to all-level. Origi scored at the dying moments from a clever corner taken quickly by Alexander Arnold to win the game for Klopp’s side in a historic comeback at the Anfield.

Liverpool will face Real Madrid in a revengeful match in Paris in the Champions League 2021/22 final

After Liverpool went on to win the 2019 UCL title defeating Tottenham after their epic comeback in 2019 against Barcelona in the semi-final, the English side will play their third Champions League final in the last five years.

The last time they met Real Madrid in the UCL final in 2018, Real Madrid shattered the dream of Klopp’s side as they won 3-1 to lift their 13th title. Again after five years, the world will witness two of the greatest sides go face-to-face in Paris for yet another nail-biter. 

Real Madrid has been the “comeback king” all this season after they pulled out comebacks in most of the knockout games defeating PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City to reach their seventeenth final.

Salah’s side will be looking to take the revenge of the 2018 UCL final and get their hands on their seventh European glory. Last time Salah had to leave the field which ended his dream of scoring in the final but this time he wants to take revenge by settling the score.
