PSG are looking to sign Ousmane Dembele this summer from Barcelona. The forward joined the Catalan club from Dortmund in 2017 for a transfer fee of €105M. He was brought in to replace Neymar, who left the team and made headlines with his transfer to PSG for a record-breaking fee of €222m. However, injury problems never let him perform to his full potential. The French winger was ruled out of more than half of the games during his spell in Spain.

To an extent, he has improved his form and has stayed fit ever since Xavi took over as the manager. Seeing this, Barcelona want to tie him to a new contract. But now it seems that he might leave soon. His release clause up until August 1st is barely €50M.

Moreover, if the clause is triggered before August 1st, he will receive 50% of the transfer fee, getting €25M. But, if the option isn’t triggered, the price will increase to €100M in August. Therefore, it will be beneficial for both Dembele and PSG to activate the clause before that.

The young French winger has one year left in his contract and has made it clear that he won’t sign an extension. Additionally, the club feel that the player has already reached an agreement with his preferred club, Real Madrid.

However, this information has been confirmed to be incorrect by SPORT. In reality, Pedri has recently renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2026, and his release clause is set at a staggering €1 billion.

Despite the incorrect information about the release clause, PSG have already shown their interest in signing Pedri. They approached Héctor Peris, the CEO of Leaderbrock Sports, the agency that represents Pedri, several weeks ago. However, the young player has not even considered the option, and Barcelona is not open to negotiations with PSG regarding Pedri’s transfer.
