Ousmane Dembele is expected to make a decision on his future soon as his contract with Barcelona expires on June 30. Dembele signed a five-year contract with Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and will be a free agent this summer if he rejects the club’s offer of a new contract.

The France international, who was a member of the World Cup-winning squad in 2018, has expressed his desire to stay at Camp Nou but acknowledges that their current offer, which was presented to him in January, is significantly lower than other options available to him.

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race if Dembele does not sign a new contract with Barcelona, with Thomas Tuchel interested in the allure of being reunited with Dembele after their time together at Dortmund.

Dembele will make his decision soon, and according to Mirror, he reportedly accepts that Barcelona’s offer isn’t as high as other options, but he continues to wait for an improved proposal from the club. Dembele is reportedly convinced that he is in Xavi’s plans for next season and is now awaiting word from Barcelona.

A meeting between the club and Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, has taken place, but this has yet to result in an improved offer from the Blaugrana, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Dembele’s representatives, on the other hand, have reportedly ruled out the possibility of their client signing a contract with Barcelona if the terms aren’t improved, giving Chelsea a chance as the clock ticks towards the Frenchman becoming a free agent.

Barcelona, on the other hand, is said to be considering whether they can offer Dembele a more luxurious package while still adhering to Financial Fair Play regulations.
