Pedri reveals “Lionel Messi’s Argentina” as dream team to face in 2022 FIFA World Cup final
Pedri talks about Lionel Messi and 2022 FIA World Cup
With only a few days until Spain’s 2022 FIFA World Cup contest rolls off against Costa Rica, star midfielder Pedri talked to the press and shared his thoughts on the tournament. The Barcelona star has also expressed a wish to compete against Argentina, ideally in the final.
When asked who he would prefer to encounter in the final, Pedri stated, as reported by EFE: “Messi’s Argentina. I would like a Spain – Argentina final at the World Cup. I want to play against Leo, I have never played against him. It would be great.”
Pedri then showered admiration on Messi, disclosing the advice he gave to the players on the field. “Messi used to give us advice on how to be calm during matches. He always told us to feel free on the pitch,” he said.
Pedri was a teammate of Messi’s during his breakout season in 2020/21. “Leo Messi is the best player I have ever seen. To have had the chance to play with him is an honor. He always had a great attitude towards me and treated me very well from the moment I met him,” he added.
Although he only played in 12 league games during the previous season, he had the good fortune to play next to the Argentine in a number of them. Pedri has since established himself as an acknowledged legend in the Barcelona squad, and he may even play a key position for Spain in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Pedri and Messi’s upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign
On Wednesday, November 23rd, Spain will boot off their FIFA World Cup contest against Costa Rica in Doha. Pedri’s team will thereafter encounter Germany in a possible shootout for first place in Group E, before concluding the group stage against Japan.
At the age of 18 years, 6 months, and 18 days, Pedri became the youngest player to highlight Spain at the 2021 EUROs, breaking Miguel Tendillo’s prior record. Pedri, who is recognized for his perception, passing, and technical prowess, will undoubtedly be one of Spain’s most intriguing players at the Qatar World Cup.
Argentina, which is in Group C, will take Saudi Arabia in their first match on November 22. The Albiceleste will play Mexico on November 26, followed by Poland four days afterward. Messi is regaining form just in time for the World Cup, and he’s ultimately established into his role with his national team.
