Pep Guardiola played off his on-field spat with Kevin De Bruyne and stated that he is fine with his Manchester City players becoming angry. Guardiola and De Bruyne appeared to be yelling at each other during City’s 4-0 Champions League triumph over Real Madrid on Wednesday.

De Bruyne was overheard demanding his manager to “shut up,” but Guardiola believes this is a positive thing. “The action with Kevin, I love it,” he said during a press conference on Friday. “I like it when we yell at each other. Sometimes it’s a little bit flat, I like this energy. It’s not the first time. You don’t see but he shouts at me in training. This is what we need. After that he becomes the best.”

If City defeats Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, they will be declared Premier League champions this weekend. They might potentially win the title earlier if Arsenal loses to Nottingham Forest.

Guardiola, on the other hand, stated that he would want Mikel Arteta’s team to win at the City Ground. “In my mind, I’d like to feel like we have to win to be champions,” he continued. “We have no control over Nottingham.” Whatever happens in Nottingham, we have to perform our jobs.”

The Catalan is set to lead Manchester City to their fourth Premier League title in five years. They have broken records season upon season, and are moments away from being the first team to win three consecutive Premier Leagues since Manchester United.

Pep answered questions regarding the title in his press conference ahead of their game against Chelsea. “Now is coming the most difficult thing. Tennis players say to serve to win Wimbledon is the most difficult one. On Sunday, the game is in our hands to win the most important competition,” said Guardiola.

He added, “The Premier League is the most important because it’s 10 or 11 months, every week and every week. We’re lucky to have the chance to finish at home with our people. We have to take it.”
