Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and €14m in exchange of Marco Alonso: Here’s how Barcelona and Chelsea close their transfer window
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
In exchange for Marcos Alonso moving to Camp Nou, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be acquired by Chelsea for £10 million.
According to sources, an agreement has been reached that will allow the former Arsenal striker to move back to London, which means Chelsea is getting closer to signing a seasoned Premier League performer. As part of that transfer arrangement, a defender who represents Spain internationally will return to his country of origin.
Aubameyang is expected to sign a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge with a one-year extension option. The footballer is presently residing in a hotel after being the victim of a house invasion and robbery last week and is hoping that his future will be decided quickly. Aubameyang and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel were teammates at Borussia Dortmund, and after a shaky start to 2022–23, the head coach is hoping the Gabon international can ignite the team.
Barcelona is hoping that the departure of Aubameyang and the potential move of Miralem Pjanic would free up money so they can bolster their roster before the transfer window shuts.
Aubameyang’s response to some rumors
In addition, as soon as he was spotted at the airport, rumors started to circulate that Aubameyang would be traveling to London to finalize his pre-arranged return to the Premier League.
Aubameyang responded to such rumours on social media by posting an image from Paris along with the following caption: “Sometimes people forget there is life as well, not only football!!!”
The Gabonese international reportedly travelled to Paris to handle some personal business, according to Mundo Deportivo. After Barcelona’s midseason friendly match against Manchester City last night, in which he scored, Aubameyang took part in recovery exercise this morning.
He boarded the plane after the training to head to Paris, where he is attending to a personal problem. Even if the flight may not have been to finalise a transfer to Chelsea, the striker is anticipated to sign with the Blues soon as a deal is said to be close.
