Police arrests former PSG boss Christophe Galtier and his son over alleged ‘discrimination’ during OGC Nice stint

Christophe Galtier, the coach of PSG has been taken into custody along with his son on Friday. They were taken after the investigation of the allegations of discrimination labeled against them during the French manager’s stint at OGC Nice.

The coach was accused of making racial and Islamophobic comments about players during the 21/22 season. The coach allegedly told Julien Fournier, the team’s sporting director at that time, that he could not have ‘so many blacks and Muslims in the team.’

Galtier is set to be sacked from PSG after an underwhelming season where they lost 10 games this year. Although, they again claimed the league title, they were knocked out of the Round of 16 in the Champions League.

According to La Parisien, he is now being questioned for his actions accompanied by his son, who also acts as his advisor. Galtier published a written statement in April saying, “I have been extremely shocked by the allegations that some people have irresponsibly made and relayed. These allegations hurt me in the deepest part of my being.”

“I trust our legal system and I also welcome the start of a legal proceeding this morning with serenity. I will not make anymore comments on this matter,” the former PSG manager added.

Luis Enrique set to replace Christophe Galtier as PSG head coach

Former FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is all set to join PSG as their new head coach. According to Fabrizio Romano, he is set to join the club in a two year deal replacing departing manager Christophe Galtier.

Galtier had an underwhelming season last year with the team again dumped out of the Round of 16 in the Champions League. The recent racism allegations may have also led to his departure.

Luis Enrique will manage a club for the first time since he left FC Barcelona in 2017. He is renowned for winning the European treble with the team in the 2014-15 season. He will also be reunited with Neymar who he coached at Barcelona. The coach however faces a difficult task to get the team back on track due to the rumoured departure of talisman Kylian Mbappe.
