One of the proposals would be to remove the FA Cup replays for both third and fourth-round matches from the year 2024 and it would require the approval of English football’s governing body.

The new changes that the Premier League clubs will propose for the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup

Liverpool is the current winner of the Carabao Cup.

Another proposal will be to make major changes to the Carabao Cup that will see that the Premier League clubs participating in European competitions will play their Under-21 squad instead of their senior players or also might not take part in the competition at all. All the last nine champions of the Carabao Cup have been sides from the top six Premier League clubs who also participate in European competitions.

The decision about the proposals is not going to be made soon this week but if the approval from the Premier League clubs and the FA is received, the new rules will take place from the 2024-25 season. That will also have to cope up with the changes to the new Champions League format where the teams will have to play four more group matches compared to the six matches they are currently playing.
