Due to illness, Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Portugal’s World Cup exhibition match against Nigeria on Thursday, according to head coach Fernando Santos.  The Portugal coach also appeased worries regarding Ronaldo’s fiery interview with Piers Morgan, in which he attacked Manchester United and the club officials.

Although he received a cold welcome from fellow countryman and United teammate Bruno Fernandes when he arrived to prepare for the World Cup in Qatar, which starts on Sunday, the player made no negative remarks about his national team squad.

Fans were confused whether Cristiano Ronaldo who rarely used to miss international matches in the early part of his career, has another omission from the playing 11. Some rumours are also spread that Ronaldo is being benched and is thus faking a ‘Stomach bug’.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiery comments criticizing the team and manager Erik ten Hag has the Manchester United players not wanting him to join the team again. According to insiders, Ronaldo’s teammates at United do not anticipate seeing him again after the World Cup because they have grown tired of his complaining and moaning over his alleged mistreatment.

The bulk of United’s team agrees with their boss that the Portugal international cannot return because of his criticism of Ten Hag and his assertions that someone tried to evict him against his will. Ronaldo was penalized by being left out of United’s squad for their Premier League trip to Chelsea last month. According to Ten Hag, he had to act against such arrogance to maintain discipline within his team.
