“PSG have opened the gas”- La Liga President hits back at Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s over ‘Barcelona selling assets’ remarks

La Liga president Javier Tebas has hit back at PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi after the latter made some unforgivable comments about the way clubs are being run an Assembly in Istanbul. The president of the European Club Association and PSG, Al-Khelaifi made a speech at an Assembly following UEFA’s renewal of Financial Fair Play, where he made some comments regarding Barcelona‘s finance and budget.

At the conference, Al-Khelaifi talked about the ‘magically injecting capital’ and warned the policies about how clubs manage to run their finance and specially mentioned Barcelona’s various economic levers to raise funds for their summer transfer window. Javier Tebas has taken the moment to reply to the comments on his Twitter mentioning the comments as vague and saying, ‘there is no magic in response to Al-Khelaifi’s speech.

Javier Tebas’s reply to Nasser Al-Khelaifi?

Javier Tebas said, “Barcelona has sold part of its assets to cover its losses. At PSG, you instead open the gas. For sustainable football, the first thing is to pay what is owed, right?” Both Tebas and Al-Khelaifi have regularly hit at each other and have been over one another over financial issues and have also exchanged verbal comments in the past.

Al-Khelaifi had criticized La Liga and referred to it as a ‘dead’ league and Tebas got angry with that comment. Tebas has had a busy summer with Barcelona regularly pushing the limits of their finances, selling off various television and media rights to raise funds for transfers, and wages, which in turn helped the club to register players for the current season.
