Rasmus Højlund, the latest addition to Manchester United’s squad, belongs to the present generation and draws inspiration from the club legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international holds the record for being the highest goalscorer in the history of the game. It will be exciting to see how highly he backs up his words coming in at worth £64 million with a further £8m in add-ons, as the expectations will start from the first matchday.
“My idol is Ronaldo. My father introduced me to him in United, and I followed him to Real Madrid. I like his mentality and love his eagerness to score goals. He’s so passionate about wanting to be the best” said Rasmus. The marquee signing has also praised the former United Defender on his defensive abilities, regarding him as one of his most formidable opponents.
“Chris Smalling from Roma gave me the biggest problems. He’s an intelligent, agile, fast, physically strong defender. I tried to win duels with him using my physical strength, but it wasn’t the winning move. I still have to find the right key to overcome it,” added the young Danish striker. Rasmus also said that in his family everyone talks about football at dinner.
Football runs in his blood with his father being a former player, and his brothers also pursuing the sport. He empathizes with his mother’s challenges in handling all the attention around the game.
Højlund has already possessed a soft spot for the Red Devils. Now the onus lies on him on how he can prove to be a crucial addition in the upcoming season. As Manchester United looks to return to being at the helm of English Football, having already signed Andre Onana and Mason Mount.

Hojlund has talked about his strong mentality, and the Premier League will be the best judge of the youngster’s ability.
