Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid is a transfer that has the potential to define an era for both the player and the club. Kylian Mbappe will finally achieve his dream of following in Cristiano Ronaldo‘s footsteps while Real Madrid assemble the ‘most’ formidable line-up in all of Europe. As the official announcement lingers in uncertainty, there has been news of what number Mbappe will don at the club.
It is understood that Kylian Mbappe has communicated with Paris Saint-Germain about his decision to part ways with the club. His contract with the Parisiens expires at the of the season, allowing him to join the club of his choice come June 30. Mbappe currently wears the #7 at PSG but may have to change his number at Madrid. Vinicius Jr. currently holds the #7 spot and as per reports, Mbappe will not go for the same.
As is the case with the France national team, Real Madrid will offer the #10 to the 25-year-old. Even though Luka Modric currently owns that number, his expected departure from the club at the end of the season will free up the slot for the superstar.
Mbappe is currently in stellar form for PSG, scoring 25 goals for the league leaders. PSG are sitting on a 13-point lead in the league as they prepare to lift a third consecutive title.
New twist to Mbappe saga as Manchester City put themselves in the mix
Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid is all but complete. Even though reports of a move to Real have taken over social media, Manchester City has decided to add a late twist to the tale. Adding to Real’s concern is that the 25-year-old has also met with Manchester City representatives. Even though Real Madrid are the hot favorites to complete his signing, City are aiming to make a late sweep for the striker.
With his reputation as one of the best and Man City being one of the few who can afford his wages, the move cannot be completely dismissed. It was reported earlier that many members of Pep Guardiola‘s staff spotted Mbappe’s representatives at the club’s training facility earlier this week. However, the possibility that Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are on the same team offers a headache for any manager.
The Spaniard will have to alter his style of play and game plan to accommodate both Haaland and Mbappe. Mbappe, who is yet to lift the UEFA Champions League will have a ‘greater’ chance of doing so with either City or Real. Both clubs have lifted the iconic trophy in the last two seasons.
