Neymar arrived in court on Tuesday to give a testimony in a trial for fraud and corruption involving his nearly ten-year transfer from the Brazilian team Santos to Barcelona.
The plaintiffs brought Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez to testify on Tuesday. He acknowledged through video conference that he did not personally know Neymar but that his club was interested in recruiting the star before he joined Barcelona. Florentino Pérez claimed that Madrid made him two bids, one for 30 million euros and the second for 45 million euros.
One of people accused of hiding the true value of the transfer from an investment group participating in the negotiations. In the trial that started on Monday and was anticipated to last at least until next week, his mother, former Barcelona presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Bartomeu, as well as representatives of both clubs, were also scheduled to appear in court.
Every defendant has asserted their innocence. On the first day in court, everyone was required to appear, but Neymar was given permission to depart after a few hours because he had played for Paris Saint-Germain in France the previous evening.
Barcelona was in issue with Spain’s tax authority due to Neymar’s signing from Santos in 2013

Investment firm DIS claimed it was due 40% of Neymar’s transfer but actually received less money because some of the transfer fee was hidden. In order to pay a reduced commission, the accused allegedly tried to conceal the true amount of the transfer.
The 30-year-old Neymar and his father were accused of corruption and asked to serve a maximum of two years in prison, however, any term up to that point would probably be suspended. Additionally, the prosecution wants to pay Neymar and his father 10 million euros.
Neymar and his father were charged by DIS with corruption and fraud, and they demanded a five-year prison sentence as well as monetary damages.
