Real Madrid star utilizes FIFA World Cup money to finance 11 surgeries for children in Sierra Leone

Antonio Rudiger who is getting ready to play in the upcoming World Cup, performed a commendable act of charity. The Real Madrid star utilizes FIFA World Cup money to finance 11 surgeries for children in Sierra Leone defender, whose mother is from Sierra Leone, would reportedly contribute all of his anticipated World Cup profits to support the medical needs of 11 children there.
The 29-year-old will represent Germany at the competition. After five years in London, he joined the current European champions in the summer. During that period, he won three FA Cups, a Europa League, a League Cup, a Super Cup, and a Club World Cup in addition to the Champions League title.
Rudiger has started his World Cup preparations for Qatar in Sierra Leone. The Real Madrid defender has funded a number of incredibly sophisticated, pricey, and most importantly, life-changing procedures for the kids in collaboration with the German humanitarian organization BigShoe, just as he did in January of last year.
Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger’s connections with Sierra Leone:
The young patients in this instance are from Lunsar, Rudiger’s mother Lily’s hometown in Sierra Leone, and they primarily have congenital club foot. In addition to the apparent medical issues, this problem has a significant negative social impact on the children’s life in Sierra Leone because of the severe social shame associated with these disabilities.
Patients not only have to use crutches for the rest of their lives but often experience social isolation, bullying at school, and minimal chance of finding employment and returning to a regular life afterward.
Rudiger, who is relieved to hear that the surgeries were successful, said, “It hurts to watch the conditions in which children in Sierra Leone are growing up.”
“I have been given opportunities in Germany that many people in Sierra Leone are denied. I am grateful for these opportunities and I greatly appreciate the privileged situation I am in,” he said.
Rudiger makes it clear that, given his privileged position in society due to sport, providing this kind of assistance is the least he can do.
Rudiger provides assistance outside of Sierra Leone. He is heavily active in social work in Germany, and while he was a frequent visitor to children’s hospitals in London, he had to bid them farewell with considerable sorrow when he decided to switch from Chelsea to Real Madrid.
Along with the surgery, the Real Madrid player donated plenty of jerseys to Sierra Leone to cheer the kids up after their frequently excruciatingly painful operations. Additionally, he has set the stage for the opening of the Antonio Rudiger Foundation for Sierra Leone the following year.
