Real Madrid to pursue RB Leipzig’s super striker in January to bolster their attacking options: Reports
Real Madrid has had a great start to the season, winning all of their La Liga games and defeating Celtic 3-0 to open their Champions League campaign. Nobody can deny that the team currently has some obvious issues as well, though, at the same time.
According to Defensa Central, Madrid may try to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig during the January transfer window. One of the most versatile players in European football, Nkunku is capable of playing everywhere in midfield and on offense. He was primarily used in the midst of the attack last season and finished with 35 goals and 20 assists in 52 games across all competitions.
In eight games across all competitions, he has six goals and one assist, continuing his goal-scoring trend from last season. Nkunku can play as a centre-forward, and any team in the world, including Madrid, would benefit from his versatility. Los Blancos’ choices at number 9 are currently depleted.
This summer, they made a major effort to get Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). It was ineffective, though, as the France international extended his deal at Parc des Princes till 2025. Manager Carlo Ancelotti recognizes the need to replace 34-year-old Karim Benzema in the near future or at least have a backup.

Only Mariano Diaz is a natural center-forward in their current lineup because Luka Jovic and Borja Mayoral left the team this summer. However, Diaz only appeared in 11 games for Real Madrid last season across all competitions, and the Italian boss clearly does not prefer him.
Additionally, Nkunku’s acquisition would bolster the team’s midfield and flanks. The Frenchman’s current deal has four years left, therefore it is unclear if Leipzig will permit him to go in the middle of the campaign.
