Real Madrid tops the list of most valuable football clubs followed by Barcelona, reporta Forbes

In Forbes’ annual list, Real Madrid surpasses Spanish rival Barcelona, who is followed by Manchester United and Liverpool.

The last time the 13-time European champions Real Madrid were in first place was in 2019, according to Forbes. Six of the magazine’s 18 rankings identify Real Madrid as the most valuable football team at this point. Real, which is owned by club members, generated an operating revenue of $90 million in 2020–21, and their $5.1 billion valuation represents a 7% change in one year.

According to Forbes, the Catalan giants are the sixth most valuable team in all of sports and the second most valuable football club, along with the New England Patriots of the NFL. Barcelona, a club-owned organisation, reported operational income of $17 million and a $5.1 billion valuation, a 5% change in a year. Man Utd has occupied the top rank 11 times, most recently in 2018. The Red Devils, who are owned by the Glazer family, made an operational income of $128 million, and their $4.6 billion valuation represents a 10% yearly change.

The Fenway Sports Group owns Liverpool, which had an operating income of $104 million and a $4.45 billion valuation, a 9% increase in one year. According to the Daily Mail, the Reds have benefited from “excellent matchday income and on-pitch performances.”
