Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois on Friday revealed the name of the player and team he will be supporting in the Champions League final this season. The goalkeeper has shown support for Romelu Lukaku ahead of Manchester City superstar Kevin de Bruyne. Both are his international teammates in the Belgian national team.
While speaking to Prime Video, Courtois said, “I hope Lukaku wins the UCL. Obviously, it’s him against Kevin [de Bruyne] but I’ve known Romelu a bit longer. I have a lot of respect for him.”
Courtois has played together with Lukaku during their time at Chelsea. Although the latter was not a prominent member of the Chelsea side at the time. The two know each other quite well. They have been playing together in the Belgian national team for years. They both were part of multiple World Cup and European Championship campaigns. The same can be said for de Bruyne. But Courtois certainly has a closer connection with Lukaku.
The former Manchester United striker has racked up 13 goals since returning to Inter Milan this season. Three of his goals have come in the Champions League. De Bruyne, in contrast, has been involved in a staggering 38 goals this term.
While heading into this game, odds certainly favor Kevin’s Man City, who are also in contention to secure a treble. However, the Champions League is known for creating stories and it will be interesting to see whether or not Lukaku’s Inter can make a story of their own this season.

Real Madrid and Spanish attacker set to part ways after player refuses to extend his stay after nine years
Marco Asensio has decided that he will not renew his contract with Real Madrid. This would make him available on a free transfer this summer.
Reports suggest that Asensio has made the decision to reject the renewal offer that he has on the table from Real Madrid. And in the coming weeks, after the end of the season, he will sign for a new club. Jorge Mendes, his agent, and José Ángel Sánchez from Real have been in talks since December. But he has decided to leave.
Asensio has waited for Real Madrid because his priority was to stay. But he feels that Carlo Ancelotti did not stick to his word when he said how important he was to his plans. This is because he started on the bench in all the Champions League knockout games, as well as the Copa del Rey final.
Asensio has a handful of offers on the table and he still hasn’t decided where to go next. Several of the big clubs in Italy and England have knocked on his door in recent months, as well as PSG. Now, he must assess the right move for his future after a season in which he racked up 12 goals and eight assists. Real was willing to raise his current salary slightly and gave him the freedom to choose the length of his deal. But the desire to feel important won over.
