Cristiano Ronaldo‘s actions in the game against Tottenham Hotspur have led to a lot of questioning and he has also been handed a one-match ban by manager Erik Ten Hag which will see him miss the match against Chelsea. We all know what a competitive player Ronaldo is and there is absolutely no doubt that he wants to play every week in and week out and doesn’t like missing any match.

Since the start of the season, Ronaldo has been the second-choice attacker for new manager Erik Ten Hag who on the other hand insisted the club at the start of the season to keep hold of Ronaldo and not sell him. Erik Ten Hag has barely started Ronaldo in the Premier League and the game time Ronaldo has acquired has either been in the Europa League or has come in as a substitute in the last 10-20 minutes of the match.

Erik Ten Hag has already made it clear with his actions during the first few months that he won’t tolerate indiscipline at all. He had already given the players a warning when a few Manchester United players left the friendly match against Rayo Vallecano during the preseason. But Cristiano repeated it again, and Erik Ten Hag made his presence felt by taking action against the Portuguese.

During Erik’s time at Ajax during the 2017/2018 Eredivisie season, German player Amin Younes once refused to come on as a substitute in the last few minutes of the match and had to see himself get banned for two weeks. Ajax was winning the match SC Heerenveen and Erik Ten Hag looked to his bench to add some fresh legs in the closing stages of the match to add to their lead.

He asked Amin Younes to get ready but Amin refused straightway and Ten Hag punished him and set an example and yet again [proved how focused he is when it comes to sportsmanlike conduct. Ronaldo’s incident has surely led to the rise of a lot of eyebrows and the fallout has definitively split the fanbase with fans taking a side with no pretense of fence-sitting.
