23-year-old Manchester City star Erling Haaland has become the subject of social media trolls after posting a picture on Social Media platform X. The player, who was out for the International Break was training with the National Team. While in training, Erling posted a picture of himself, jumping high up in the air, in his training kit, kicking the ball in his trademark style. The player drew attention not for his picture, but the way he chose to caption the post.
The Norwegian decided to caption his post as “AIRling ✈️”. Netizens have read deep into the caption, with many claiming that the airplane emoji was insensitive from the player’s side since it was posted on September 11. The date comes as a sensitive topic for many following the tragedy of 9/11. Netizens have come together to mock the player and have sarcastically called for a ‘ban’ for the player. Rival fans have made a meal of the same, calling the Premier League and FA to take action against the player in a hilarious dig.
A fan’s comment read, “Airplane references shrouded in jokes in 9/11 should only be met with a long-term ban @FA.” While another comment read, “He might get a 34-game ban and still outscore your team ?.” It is clear that Netizens are taking sarcastic digs at the player and not actually calling for a ban.
If not Haaland then who? Real Madrid eyes Haaland’s alternative

Amidst reports that Real Madrid has all but given up on their pursuit of star man Kylian Mbappe, rumors suggest that they have eyed up a certain Manchester City player, and no, it’s not Erling Haaland. It was no secret that the Santiago Bernabeu was expecting Frenchman Kylian Mbappe to don their Royal White this season. A fallout with PSG administration and owner Nasser Al-Khelaïfi hinted at the 24-year-old’s departure from Parc des Princes. However, Mbappe has chosen to sign a one-year deal with PSG and has now been ‘reinstated’ to the club.
While Real Madrid saw a prospective replacement in Erling Haaland, he seems to be very much at home in Manchester. Nothing hints at a departure anytime soon. However, club teammate Julian Alvarez has come into the picture. With 19 goals and 8 assists in 55 appearances (mostly off the bench), Alvarez offers an impressive record upfront. His clinical nature in front of goal and effectiveness on the pitch has caught the eye of Real Madrid. The club feels he could be a perfect replacement for star striker Karim Benzema.
However, these reports should be taken with a pinch of salt, because the World Cup winner has recently signed a long-term deal at the Etihad, keeping him at the club till 2028. The 23-year-old has grown under Pep Guardiola and has become more important to the first team. It is unlikely that the player will leave City unless Real Madrid line up a spectacular offer.
