FC Barcelona has the third-most goals scored in La Liga. The Blaugrana have scored 24 goals in the 2023-24 campaign from 12 games played. The club ais not lacking in front of goal. However, Robert Lewandowski has hit a rough patch this season, which is quite evident in his performances.

The Polish striker scored 23 goals for Barcà in his debut season, securing the Pichichi title in the process. However, the 35-year-old has only managed to score five goals in his first ten games this season. The veteran striker also had a night to forget against Real Sociedad, where he was subbed off by head coach Xavi in a narrow 1-0 win.

Before the coronavirus, the idea of joining the MLS was firmly in my mind. I somehow changed my mind afterwards. Now, after the chapter at Barcà, this is hard to imagine.

Barcelona eye Round of 16 qualification with win against Shakhtar Donetsk

FC Barcelona have enjoyed success under Xavi, even though the club has been greatly inconsistent in recent times. A La Liga title in his first full season has been the highlight for Barcà in recent years. However, the club have been unable to progress from the Champions League group stages under Xavi, as they have struggled to do so in recent years.

Three wins in the first three games in the group stages mean that a win against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday will ensure qualification to the Round of 16. Ahead of the game, Xavi spoke to the media, and called for a better performance from his players. Barcà scraped a 1-0 win against Sociedad on Sunday.

A performance as flat as against Real Sociedad cannot be allowed.

What adds more hope to Barcà’s season is the return of their star midfielder Pedri, who was out for almost 3 months.

To win and to win not playing will is something a Champion does. Pedri's return will change the outlook of the team. This is good news for both the player and the team.
