Rodrygo reveals real reason behind hitting ‘SIUU’ celebration against Chelsea, says he did it for his ‘idol’ Cristiano Ronaldo

Rodrygo celebrated his first goal against Chelsea by hitting Ronaldo’s signature celebration. The Brazilian was on target twice against the Blues and sent the London side crashing out of the Champion’s League Quarter-Finals.

Rodrygo was interviewed after the game, and he mentioned his celebration, “I was thinking of celebrating the goal by sliding with my knees.” He continued, “But I have a little inflammation and I chose to do the one for my idol, who is Cristiano Ronaldo“.

The Real Madrid winger has already scored five goals in the UCL this season, matching his tally from the last campaign. The Brazilian did not play alongside Ronaldo for Real Madrid, but still considers him his idol. The Los Blancos have reached the Semi-Finals of the competition and will await a visit from either Manchester City or Bayern Munich on May 9.

Real Madrid winning their third successive UCL

The Los Blancos have successfully reached their 11th Champions League Semi-Final in the last 13 years. Real Madrid are now three games away from retaining their status as European Champions.

The Madrid club only failed to reach the Sem-Finals of the competition on two occasions, during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns. Both times, they were eliminated in the Round of 16. Real Madrid were eliminated by a young Ajax side in 2019, and Manchester City in 2020. The Los Blancos have also won every UCL final they played during that time, including a three-peat from 2016 to 2018.

Real Madrid were dominant in both legs against Chelsea, winning on an aggregate of 4-0. The Los Blancos now have four consecutive matches in the league, where they hope to launch a late title charge. They will then play in the Copa Del Rey final, before returning their focus in the Champions League, all within the span of three weeks.
