Ruben Amorim breaks silence on potentially replacing Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s new coach

Ruben Amorim, current manager of Sporting CP, has responded to rumors linking him to the managerial job at Manchester United. These reports come after Erik ten Hag lost back-to-back home games – at Old Trafford – with a margin of three goals to nil in both fixtures. 

Ruben Amorim – alongside Zinedine Zidane – has emerged as a favorite to replace Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman has had a terrible start to Manchester United’s ’23/24 campaign. 8 losses in the last 15 games have raised questions about the manager’s competence that have led to rumors of his possible ‘sacking’ if things do not get better.

Amorim has responded to these rumors, stating:

We don’t know the future. This year I’m not going to go back to the same conversation as last year. I don’t want to be commenting on these things. I have not been contacted by Manchester United.

Manchester United may need to pay €10 million to hire the Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim, as specified in his Sporting CP contract. Amorim has decided not to discuss his contract details intends to honor the existing agreement, and has said that he will fulfill ‘everything’ in his contract.

Things are currently dire at Manchester United and Erik ten Hag, fans believe, is on borrowed time after the team’s bad showing against derby rivals, Manchester City and a convincing loss to Newcastle United in the EFL Cup.

Manchester United deny reports of replacing Erik ten Hag

Italian football journalist, Fabrizio Romano has reported Manchester United’s faith in their current manager. The Italian journalist has reported that the sources known to him who work close to the club have reported to him that the club denies such rumors. Stating:

The club firmly denies reports of considering a new coach.

This news surfaced following Manchester United’s recent loss to Newcastle United. Further, many experts have expressed concerns about the manager’s job security.

Yet, Manchester United fans are divided on who’s to blame for the team’s struggles. Despite a promising 2022/23 season, their performance has taken a downturn. The team has suffered significant losses in recent matches and currently holds the 8th spot in the Premier League, having won five games and lost five.

Now, as Erik ten Hag has come under scrutiny for the club’s recent showing, it has been a joy for rival fans. During the EFL game, Newcastle fans chanted, “Sacked in the morning.” Meanwhile, United sources have claimed, that all stories about a ‘new-manager’ is false. But the Red Devils’ fanbase across the globe will be expecting a change in the system soon if the team is to start winning silverware.
