Ryan Reynolds calls football a ‘torturous game’ after Wrexham’s close win over Notts County, says it’d have ‘eaten him alive’ years ago
The Canadian actor watched in disbelief as his Wrexham side scraped past Notts county

Ryan Reynolds, co-owner of Wrexham AFC was in attendence at the Racecourse ground for a top of the table clash against Notts County. The two sides had matched each other stride for stride with The Red Dragons just about managing to win. However, the defining moment of the match was a wonderful Ben Foster penalty save in stoppage time to win Wrecham the game.
Speaking in an interview after the game, the Canadian actor stated, “I don’t feel like I have a heart any more. I think I used all the beats I had left during that match. That was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.” He continued, “Indicative of all of you lifers that have watched and participated in this game – this beautiful torturous game forever – I’m grateful in this moment that I didn’t care about this years ago because it would have eaten me alive.”
The Deadpool actor went on, “That was quite something. Usually I’m not at a loss for words but I am genuinely in a loss for words at this moment. I don’t quite know hot to quantify what just happened.”
Wrexham and Notts county have been the two best clubs in the National League this season. Wrexham sit just three points above The Magpies, albeit with a game in hand. Only one of the two clubs will gain automatic promotion to the EFL League Two while the other will need to win the playoffs to progress.

It has been rumoured that the 46-year-old has bought a ยฃ1.5m house in Marford, Wrexham county. The village is just six miles from the club’s home ground, The Racecourse.
Ryan Reynolds will be hoping his club can gain automatic promotion to the EFL League Two. The Red Dragons are first on the table, three points clear of Notts County in second. Wrexham also have a game in hand over their nearest competitors.
