Ryan Reynolds ‘speechless’ in joy after Wrexham wins tough battle against Notts County to seek promotion in English football
Reynolds' Wrexham finally achieved promotion, and return to the EFL League Two after 15 years.
Ryan Reynolds was left speechless after Wrexham’s penultimate game of the season and shared his love for his club in an interview with co-owner Rob McElhenney. The Red Dragons secured promotion to the EFL League Two, defeating Boreham Wood 3-1. The Welsh side have secured a record 110 points in the National League, with a game still left to play.
When asked about his feelings on the promotion, Reynolds commented, “I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still little speechless.” The Canadian actor added, “Why Wrexham? This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why.”
The Wrexham co-owner also shared his appreciation for the closest challengers Notts County. Reynolds said, “This entire story, the reason we are all on edge of our seats is because Notts County are so damn good.” The Deadpool actor concluded, “They deserve to go up. We are rooting for Notts County.“
The Red Dragons played Non-League football for the last 15 years, but have finally returned to League Two. The Welsh club could be joined by title rivals in the fourth-tier of English football should Notts County win the play-offs. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have experienced their Hollywood dream in Wales, and have helped the Wrexham faithful experience their own dreams.

Ryan Reynolds demands Ben Foster’s jersey in hilarious press conference crash
Ryan Reynolds hilariously crashed the Wrexham goalkeeper’s press conference to ask for his jersey. The Canadian actor was his usual comic self, disrupting the Englishman’s interview. Foster was key in The Red Dragons’ title win, having saved a crucial penalty against Notts County.
While the former Manchester United keeper was conducting his interview, Reynolds came swarming in. The Canadian demanded, “Foster. Jersey. Now!” The Englishman laughed, “It is his jersey, yes, but it stinks by the way. Honestly, this absolutely stinks.” Reynolds then also demanded Elliott Lee’s jersey, who was giving an interview beside the goalkeeper. The actor left with both shirts in his pocket as a souvenir.
Ben Foster had joined the Welsh club on a short-term contract. The Englishman signed for the Welsh club on the deadline day in January. Foster has described his wages as “Literally Peanuts”, and had initially retired from professional football back in September of last year.
