Barcelona and French defender Jules Kounde had rejected a move to Chelsea in order to join the Spanish club earlier this summer. The transfer news was all over the news as Barca was facing some budget issues and the club was working to fix its financial uncertainty. While Chelsea was close to signing the defender but Kounde was asked by Barcelona to wait for them to gather the funds required to sign him.

It still remains quite a complicated deal as some Chelsea pundits still find it unusual how Barcelona managed to draw the funds in such less time. After signing for the club, Kounde was facing some issues regarding getting his name registered for the Laliga team sheet and he missed the first two games of the season as the club was over the League’s salary cap limit and the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped them.

Chelsea fans were quite adamant about that Kounde deal coming through but when the deal fell apart with the defender joining Barcelona, the fans criticized Barca’s financial situation and made comments on it. A Chelsea fan took to Twitter and tweeted on Kounde’s previous post asking him whether or not he had been paid by Barcelona.

Kounde made no delay and replied to that by saying, “Salary has been paid in full, thanks for your concern my G.” Kounde has recently spoken to French publication L’Equipe explaining how close he was to joining Chelsea and his decision to reject Chelsea for Barcelona. He said, “I spoke with Tuchel and I also felt that he wanted me to come but I simply preferred Xavi’s speech.”
