A Saudi Arabia fan made headlines for his jubilant reaction to Argentina’s defeat during their Group C match last month, but now he is showing his support for the South American team in the World Cup Final. The fan’s exuberant response to the game was seen on television, and it made him an instant celebrity. However, now, he was spotted switching sides and cheering for Argentina in the final match.
During a live broadcast, the unnamed fan showed his colors as he made an amusing query. He curiously asked the reporter, ” Excuse me, where is Messi?” He then went on to look through the journalist’s pockets in an attempt to find the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. The comical video quickly gained traction on the internet, becoming one of the most shared videos from the tournament.
After the match between Argentina and Saudi Arabia, the fates of the teams went in completely different directions. Argentina has not lost a game since, with their latest victory being a dominating 3-0 against Croatia. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia fell to defeats against both Poland and Mexico, leaving them last in their group. The supporter in question switched sides quickly, considering the events that followed. On Tuesday, he was seen outside the Lusail Stadium donning his iconic sunglasses and an Argentina scarf.

Lionel Messi provided the driving force for Argentina as they trounced Croatia 3-0 in the Qatar World Cup semi-final. The 35-year-old skipper notched up the first goal through a penalty kick, which was earned by striker Julian Alvarez after he was fouled by Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic. Messi then set up Alvarez for the next two goals to completely quash Croatia’s chances of making it to the final, and captain Luka Modric’s aspirations of lifting the trophy.
Croatia maintained control of the ball for much of the game on Tuesday, yet unfortunately were unable to take a shot on target. They will now compete in the third-place playoff at Khalifa International Stadium this Saturday. Messi’s performance left an impressive mark on Lusail Stadium, where Argentina will return this Sunday to face the winner of the upcoming France-Morocco semi-final match.
Messi went on a blazingly fast run, with young defender Gvardiol keeping up with him, step for step. Messi attempted to shake him off with a shimmy and stop-start, but Gvardiol remained glued to him. He then attempted a drag back and a pirouette, but his opponent was still there, like a reflection in a mirror.
So Messi faked one way and then quickly went the other way, his legs pumping faster and faster, and miraculously managed to dribble around Gvardiol, as if he were running around a thousand and one training cones from his childhood. This was a feat that was not only athletic in nature, but also incredibly technical. It was a display that most veterans would not have been capable of. But this is Messi, who always manages to amaze.
