Everton’s boss, Sean Dyche, has expressed his viewpoints on the current breaks in the Premier League system. According to Dyche, the winter break must be reconsidered as it creates an uneven fixture list and massively favors the league’s big clubs.
Addressing the reporters, Dyche said:
I don't see the point of the break. It's not beneficial, and I'd take it away. It would be better to lose a couple of fixtures in December and put them in January to spread it out.Sean Dyche on Winter Break
He further criticized how effective the break proved to be for everyone.
Dyche’s point is that clubs with larger squads with more depth and budget have a better hand at surviving the break than the smaller ones. Everton is set to play their eighth match in 29 days. And then just once in the next 26 if they get knocked out of the FA Cup.
He has further modified how the break’s elimination could help create a more equitable environment for other clubs with an evenly distributed fixture list so that strain is reduced on players and injuries are prevented. Premier League CEO Richard Masters had earlier confirmed that the continuation of the breaks was in doubt, giving hope to the clubs to rest more.
Everton could edge in on a transfer for ex-Manchester United player
Everton is reportedly contemplating offering a Premier League lifeline to Jesse Lingard, the former Manchester United player who has been a free agent since his release by Nottingham Forest in the summer. Lingard, who featured 20 times for Forest last season. He had been training with Steven Gerrard’s side, Al Ettifaq, after leaving the City Ground but did not finalize a move to Saudi Arabia.
With an impressive record of 182 Premier League appearances and 32 England caps. The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience, making him a potential short-term addition to Everton’s squad until the end of the season. This potential move comes as Everton faces challenges. They have received a ten-point deduction earlier in the season for violating financial rules.
Lingard’s availability could provide a valuable boost to the team’s depth. This offers a seasoned player to contribute during a critical phase of the season. As discussions unfold, Lingard’s potential Premier League return with Everton remains an intriguing prospect for both the player and the club.
