“I just want to protect my name and my integrity,” Serbian ace Dusan Vlahovic calls reports of affair with teammates wife ‘absurd’
Serbia star Dusan Vlahovic has strongly objected to “absurd” allegations that his lack of World Cup game time is the result of an ongoing affair with a teammate’s wife. The Juventus forward didn’t even make it onto the field for Serbia’s second game’s 3-3 draw with Cameroon. He started both of Serbia’s World Cup group games on the bench.
Given the forward’s pedigree and recent strong performance, his exclusion from the starting lineup generated some concerns that Serbian media outlets promptly addressed. They claimed that Vlahovic’s lack of playing time was caused by the fact that he had been caught having an affair with Predrag Rajkovic’s wife, but the forward has refuted these accusations.
Vlahovic said the following during their pre-game press conference: “I am sorry to have to start the press conference in the World Cup this way, but I have to talk about it because this is my name being bandied about. What we all read and hear about, there’s no need to comment on something so absurd.”
“We are more united than ever and the atmosphere in the squad has never been better. These stories are ridiculous, I just want to protect my name and my integrity, so I will take legal action if necessary. It’s not the first time this has happened, I would’ve hoped that people would support the team before such an important match, but instead we are forced to talk about things that have nothing to do with it,” he added.
Vlahovic started in Serbia’s 3-2 loss to Switzerland which eventually lead to their elimination from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He scored Serbia’s second goal which gave them a 2-1 lead but goals from Embolo and Freuler meant an early exit for the Juventus striker and co.

The woman in controversy, Ana Cakic, also addressed the allegations on social media and stated that she had been taking care of her son in the hospital for a month. Cakic tweeted in response to a reporter’s tweet: “We’ve survived worse, believe me. Thanks to all the journalists who ignored me and didn’t publish anything about Tadija’s health condition, and the other people who think it’s best to attack a wounded lion got a little carried away, because the pack is defending it! Thank you!”
Predrag Rajkovic, the goalie for Serbia and Mallorca, and Cakic had been together for a long time and married in August 2018. They have two kids together. While on his remarkable career in Italian football, Vlahovic has kept his love life a secret.
