Following the decision to part ways with Manchester United, Lazio are the latest team to have shown interest in Mason Greenwood. The 21-year-old linked with multiple clubs including Juventus, AC Milan, and Al-Ettifaq can be expected to move to Italy.
At one time, last month, the Saudi club showed the most interest in the Englishman. But talks stalled and eventually faded out as the league came to the understanding that Greenwood’s signing may affect the morals of the league and competition. As of now, Serie A club Lazio is leading the race to sign the player. According to reports from Sky Sports, the transfer is still too soon to finalize. The deal depends on Maurizio Sarri‘s green light.
Mason Greenwood was arrested after a series of recordings were released against him on accounts of abuse on his partner. Following his arrest, United suspended the player indefinitely till a resolution was made regarding his case. But he was soon let off by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023 after a lack of ‘key witnesses’. Earlier this month, the Red Devils were planning to reinstate the player into the first team when the decision was met with outrage. Consequently, the club decided to part ways with Greenwood on a ‘mutual’ agreement.
However, the player’s contract is till 2025. This means that unless United manage to offload the player they are obliged to pay his salary. But with the offers coming in thick and fast, it is expected that a destination for the Manchester boy will be decided soon enough.

Manchester United are set in the market with multiple players linked with a move to Old Trafford. As the transfer deadline nears, the club seems to attract more interest. United completed the signing of Tottenham player Sergio Reguillon on a season-long loan deal. The player is expected to fill in for the absence of injured Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Backup keeper Dean Henderson left the club for Premier League team Crystal Palace.
Main target Sofyan Amrabat is still waiting for the Reds as the club is set to make a final bid for the Moroccan midfielder. Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir may also be headed for Old Trafford after backup keeper Dean Henderson’s departure.
