Shakhtar coach rates Real Madrid’s Luka Modric way over Barcelona’s Xavi and Iniesta
Luka Modric, Xavi and Iniesta.
Recently a quite controversial statement has been put out from a reputed team in the Ukrainian league FC Shakhtar Donetsk’s coach Igor Jovisevic, commenting that the best midfielder in his opinion is Real Madrid‘s Luka Modric, choosing the Croatian over the Spanish legends Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.
The Ukrainian coach said, “nobody has done what Modric did, neither Xavi nor Iniesta.”, Quite deceiving the statement is, as the Croatian has made it to the FIFA World Cup finals leading his team, but the other two have won it along with two EURO Cups. Since the statement, the media and netizens have arrived on his neck, mocking him.
The Croatian is surely underrated and amongst the Greatest midfielders of all time, but Iniesta and Xavi were something else altogether. Iniesta has a World Cup final goal as well. Though Modric is more successful in accolades with the Los Blancos and individual level, with 5 Champions League and a Ballon d’Or to his name.

Luka Modric’s international rally is less appreciated than Real Madrid’s
It is to be concluded that the comparison between the greats of the Croatian was the calm before the tsunami that he would bring to the football game and to the whole world as well. Luka Modric took his country in a successful triumph over the world’s best teams straight into the FIFA World Cup Final against France in 2018.
Though unfortunately with a silver medal, the Croatian had to return home, seeing his national flag on the biggest stage a football-playing country could picture itself, would have been the proudest moment of his career, with winning the exotic Ballon d’Or that same year.
Modric has put many laurels to his country giving them world recognition. Being a 2-time Croatian Cup winner, 3 times Croatian champion, and 7 times Croatian Player of the year, the midfielder has these many just on a country level, the club Laurels he has would be another debate altogether.
