Sheikh Jassim has shown serious interest in securing the ownership of Manchester United. Following the Glazers‘ announcement that “We are ready to explore strategic alternatives” to further the growth of the club, Sheikh Jassim and businessman Jim Ratcliffe came forward as frontrunners. As the bidding progressed, reports came out that the Qatari prevailed and was set to take charge of the club as early as mid-October.

However, recent reports suggest that the Glazers have taken the club out of the market and pulled out from their decision to sell the club. After initially ‘agreeing’ upon a £5 billion fee, the Glazers increased their asking price to a shipping £10 billion. Even though the management looks to sell the club in the future, the Glazers may keep charge of the club till 2025, as per Daily Mail. After missing out on Manchester United, the Qatari has his eyes set on another Premier League Club, Tottenham Hotspur.

Mark Ogden, an ESPN News Journalist reported that Sheikh Jassim was already eyeing up a bid for Spurs in case the United deal failed to materialize. He reported that his aim was for a hold on the Premier League, and if not Machester, then the Qatari would be back for Tottenham. While the Abu Dhabi and Saudi businessmen already have a hold on the Premier League, via Manchester City and Newcastle United, Tottenham could open a potential for Qatar.
