SHOCKING: Manchester City legend Yaya Toure picks Mikel Arteta over Pep Guardiola

When asked to choose between Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, Yaya Toure chose Arteta. Before reconnecting with Guardiola at Manchester City, Toure played for Barcelona under the Spaniard, winning La Liga and the Champions League. At the Etihad, he would go on to win three Premier League championships, but toward the end of his eight-year stay in English football, his friendship with Guardiola would deteriorate.

In his final season at Manchester City, the 2017–18 campaign, Toure was hardly ever played, and his lone Premier League start came on the final day when the championship was already assured.

Toure made the contentious remark that Guardiola had “issues with Africans wherever he goes” after departing for Olympiacos that summer. “It got to the point I asked myself if it was because of my colour. I am not the first. Other Barcelona players asked the question,”

Toure’s agent, Dmitri Seluk, called Guardiola a “worthless person” and asserted that the City manager’s conduct of the midfielder had led to the casting of a “African curse” that will prohibit him from ever again winning the Champions League.

Yaya Toure has sent a letter of apology to Pep Guardiola for a 2018 interview he gave to France Football magazine in which he claimed the Manchester City coach had a problem with players of color and from Africa.

Toure’s final season with Manchester City was confined to a little role, and he eventually left the team at the conclusion of the 2017–18 campaign. Later that summer, he criticised Guardiola, who was also his manager at Barcelona, in an interview with France Football.
