England’s national team has been impressing in the World Cup in Qatar, earning an emphatic 3-0 win over Senegal in the round of 16 to secure a spot in the quarterfinals against the defending champions France. Manager Gareth Southgate’s squad has won three out of four matches so far, making them the highest scorers in the competition, and putting to rest any pre-tournament skepticism.
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice said, “Don’t think we’ve been getting credit we deserve. Others win comfortably & called masterclasses. With us it always gets picked off. Last couple of games faultless. Countries should start to fear us now.”
England have now made it to the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the 10th time in their history, having achieved this milestone twice each under the guidance of Walter Winterbottom (1954 and 1962), Alf Ramsey (1966 and 1970), Bobby Robson (1986 and 1990), Sven-Goran Eriksson (2002 and 2006) and Gareth Southgate (2018 and 2022).
England is set to take on France in the quarter-finals on Saturday, hoping to repeat their performance from four years ago when they went all the way to the semi-finals before being beaten by Croatia. Declan Rice believes that the success of England’s team at the 2022 World Cup will be intimidating to opposing teams.

France and England have advanced to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar after scoring a lot of goals in their matches against Poland and Senegal. On Sunday, the stars of both successful teams shined in their respective games: France’s Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud netted three goals that led to a 3-1 victory against Poland, and England’s Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka each scored a goal for a 3-0 victory against Senegal.
On Saturday, December 10, two of Europe’s football powerhouses, France and England, will face off in the World Cup quarter-finals at Qatar’s Al Khor stadium. This highly anticipated match promises to be an exciting showdown between two of the continent’s top teams.
Although England’s victory appeared to be effortless, Senegal did pose a challenge in the initial period when Ismaila Sarr got past the English goalkeeper, yet unfortunately shot the ball beyond the goal post. Sarr also assisted in Senegal’s first attempt on goal when he passed the ball to Boulaye Dia, who then forced England’s goalkeeper to make a left-handed save.
