Tottenham have been in great form this season, after the arrival of manager Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has helped the side jump back into the top four, with the help of a plethora of fresh new signings like Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, and Timo Werner. Despite such highs, legendary EPL manager Sir Alex asserted that Spurs would never clinch the title.

The English manager responded with a ‘no’ when asked about the Spurs’ winning hopes, in an interview with Sky Sports. Moreover, he added that the last time Tottenham won it was in 1961, which was a long time ago, and their chances of winning it since then have been limited. He exclaimed that with Liverpool and Manchester City dominating the EPL, each team faces a tough competition and this makes Spurs a distant title challenger. SAF said,

No, 1961 was the last time they won it, well that’s a long time. The opposition today with Liverpool and Manchester City being so powerful in the Premier League. Even for United now, we’re having to fight.

This is not the first time that Sir Alex Ferguson dismissed Spurs’ title hopes. Back in 2009, Ferguson had famously labeled Spurs as minnows while making the iconic ‘Lads, it’s Tottenham’ team-talk, ahead of a match between Manchester United and Tottenham.
