A Spanish goalkeeper Alberto Lejaragga has reportedly come out as gay. He has posted photos of him kissing his boyfriend on Twitter as he celebrated his team’s promotion.

Shot-stopper Lejaragga reportedly wrote some alongside the snap of him holding his partner as they locked lips moments after the final whistle. He said “Many thanks for always being at my side, in the good moments and in the not-so-good moments. This time it was our turn to experience the beauty of this.”

The 28-year-old, goalkeeper for Marbella FC won promotion to Spain’s fourth-tier Segunda RFEF division on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Real Jaen. He finished his tweet by writing in capped-up letters, ‘GRACIAS’ followed by two heart emojis.

He posted two photos of him with his boyfriend. Alberto also posted snaps of his family celebrating his team’s promotion with him.

The Blackpool forward Jake Daniels has ended decades of silence within men’s football to become the first player in the UK to come out as gay since Justin Fashanu in 1990.

Daniels made his senior debut for the club only this month. But the 17-year-old says he is ready to act as a role model for others in the game after deciding “the time is right to be myself, be free and be confident” in his identity.

Jack Daniels reportedly said, “Now is the time to do it. I feel like I am ready to tell people my story. I want people to know the real me. For a long time I’ve thought I would have to hide my truth because I wanted to be, and now I am, a professional footballer, asked myself if I should wait until I’ve retired to come out. No other player in the professional game here is out.

Daniels said he has been aware of his sexuality since he was six years old. But kept it secret as he pursued his dream of a career in football.
