Chelsea had a night to forget against Middlesbrough FC at the Riverside Stadium. The Blues fell to a shocking 1-0 defeat against the Championship side as their £1 billion team failed to register a goal against their opponents. A moment captured by the cameras showed Chelsea veteran and centre-back Thiago Silva calming the crowd as they fell victim to a narrow, yet humiliating 1-0 loss.

Defensively, Chelsea let in the solitary goal in the first half, and only allowed the home side to make 2 shots on target. However, the Blues were wasteful in attack, much to the frustration of the traveling away fans. When asked about the incident between Thiago Silva and the fans, Mauricio Pochettino insisted that it was not how it seemed. The Chelsea boss insisted that the anger shown by Chelsea fans was aimed at the home crowd and not at their players.
