Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, in a recent interview on Wednesday, claimed that the Blues will beat Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash on Wednesday, 12th April. Chelsea has endured a rough time in the 2022/23 season. They have struggled to make an impression despite spending a lot of money on players during the transfer windows.

During the interview, the Chelsea owner said that the team would win 3-0 against the UCL titleholders. He reportedly said, “Chelsea is going to win 3-0. I have a lot of faith and we’re going to win 3-0 tonight. We look at this as a very long-term process. And we have a lot of work to do, and we’re excited about the future. The future is bright. And we’re excited about tonight”.

The Todd Boehly era has seen the Blues sack managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter after a poor run of results during the season. They decided to appoint Frank Lampard as the interim manager till the end of the 2022-23 season.

Lampard’s second stint got off to the worst possible start as Chelsea lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League during the weekend. After 30 games, Chelsea is 11th in the Premier League table with 39 points to their name. This has made them the underdogs in the Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday. But Boehly seems to be confident they can get a big result at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has reportedly signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2027. Chilwell has endured an injury-plagued spell over the last two seasons. However, Chelsea was keen to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell signed from Leicester in 2020. He was part of the Chelsea squad that won the Champions League in 2021. A ruptured cruciate knee ligament ruined Chilwell’s 2021-22 season. He has also missed three months of this campaign, including the World Cup, due to a hamstring injury.

Manchester City was reportedly interested in making a bid for Chilwell. But on Wednesday, Chilwell agreed to add two more years to a contract that was due to expire in 2025.

Talking about his renewal, Chilwell said, “I feel very settled at Chelsea and have really enjoyed my time on the pitch here. So I’m very pleased the club wants me to be part of the project long-term. And I am very happy to sign this extension to my contract. We are working hard for success. And I will do my best to bring more smiles to the faces of the fans who have made me feel so welcome.”
