Veteran Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos surprisingly claimed that RB Leipzig’s goal against the Los Blancos should have stood, giving the Bundesliga side an early lead. Benjamin Sesko’s goal in the 3rd minute was ruled out for offside. Real Madrid edged past RB Leipzig, thanks to a goal from Brahim Diaz. The young midfielder scored a superb goal in the 48th minute.

The win gives the Los Blancos an upper hand in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. The match was marred by controversy, when Benjamin Sesko’s 3rd minute header, from an early corner was ruled out for an offside. The linesman penalized defender Benjamin Henrichs for a collision with the goalkeeper.

Despite VAR upholding the officials’ decision, Los Blancos star Toni Kroos opined that the goal was wrongly ruled out for offside. Speaking to reporters after the match, the 34-year-old midfielder exclaimed that the referee had erratically ruled the goal offside because Benjamin Henrichs was obstructing Andriy Lunin. He added that the goalkeeper could not have reached the ball, so the goal should have stood.

Club manager Carlo Ancelotti failed to agree with the player’s statements, instead claiming that Henrichs was pushing Lunin, which amounted to an offside.

The German star was angered at the Malian midfielder for a foul of Brahim Diaz. Toni Kroos had never been seen like this before but the foul ultimately called for it and the 34-year-old was angry with what happened.

He was seen pushing Haidara, before being restrained by the referee. Los Blancos went on to win the match 1-0, with Diaz scoring the only goal of the match. Fans reacted to Kroos’ incident, claiming that he had never seen the German getting so angry at anyone.
