In the opening El Clasico of the season, Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 3-1 with ease. Just after the half-hour mark, Fede Valverde produced a fantastic finish as part of an excellent display that prompted Toni Kroos to applaud his Real Madrid teammate on Twitter.

Alongside Valverde, the World Cup winner played the entire 90 minutes as Madrid defeated their arch-rivals at Santiago Bernabeu. Toni kroos captioned: ”Fede Valverde top three in the world right now.”

As the Uruguayan has four goals and an assist in nine league games so far this season, Valverde’s performance against Barca was only one in a string of recent standout efforts. Real Madrid now leads La Liga by three points after the victory, while Barcelona stays in second place and is three points ahead of Atletico Madrid.
