Following a thigh injury suffered during Brazil’s World Cup Qualifying defeat against Colombia, Vinicius Jr. could be on the sidelines for over 10 weeks ruling him out for the remainder of the year for Real Madrid.
A statement released by the club claimed:
Rupture in the femoral biceps with involvement of the distal tendon in his left leg.

Vinicius Jr. faces another setback, having injured his hamstring early in the season. Despite a less-than-ideal start, he’s contributed six goals and four assists in thirteen games. This marks Real Madrid’s eighth injury this season, with Eduardo Camavinga also sidelined. Ranked second in the league, Carlo Ancelloti is concerned about the growing injury list. A challenging end to 2023 seems likely, but both the club and fans are hopeful for a swift recovery.
With over eight days left till their next fixture in La Liga, Real Madrid’s injury list is set to only reduce by one. The Turkish star, Arda Guller is set to be fit by the 22nd of November. So, a respite in such times might come in as a blessing. At least that is what they must be hoping for.
Injury crisis too much for Real Madrid?
Real Madrid’s current injury troubles aren’t unexpected. The club faced a similar crisis in 2018, with more than 18 players dealing with various problems. Now, it appears history is repeating itself.

While Real Madrid has had a great season up till now, the club has never been allowed to field their ‘strongest starting XI’. A pre-season injury to Thibaut Courtois set the precedent for the squad as he was the first player in the team to be on the injury list, and with the nature of his injury, will be the last to recover amongst others.
Real Madrid has shown this season that they can cope with the increasing number of games this season however, with injuries piling up, fans will be keen to know whether the club can keep up as they are within touching distance from the top of the league but are also within touching distance of third place team, FC Barcelona.
