US journalist Grant Wahl
A renowned US journalist Grant Wahl was denied entry into the FIFA World Cup premises for the fixture between Wales and USA, for wearing a ‘rainbow’ t-shirt. The man took to Twitter to complain about the extreme rules, and let the world know of the Qatari officials’ extremist behavior, which resulted in his detention.
A resident from Qatar, in a reply to his tweet, wrote remarks that offended a lot of people criticizing their culture, and laws that fall against basic human rights. “As a Qatari, I’m proud of what happened”, “When will the westerners realize that their values aren’t universal,” said the man.
Qatar has however realized that the whole world is protesting against its extremist behavior and guidelines. The players and people protesting against them must remain in their freedom and access to their rights well provided in other countries as well.
Twitter reacts as the renowned US journalist was detained for wearing a rainbow t-shirt for the FIFA World Cup:
Fans from all across the world have shown their dismay at Qatar’s targetted laws towards doing the opposite of having solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. The fans have arrived in the gulf country to enjoy the special world cup matches, but when they are getting deprived of the basic human rights they claim to protest.
The head organization also has considered some relaxation for the footballing community, by allowing the sale of beer outside the stadiums. However, the fans who wish to enjoy having a beer glass will be saddened and might continue to denounce the world cup.
