The citizens of Pakistan didn't expect some football stars to 'show' up as voters!

On 8th February, Pakistan held its General Elections to decide the new Prime Minister. According to an amendment made after they removed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the elections used paper ballots. 

They decided to use paper ballots as they believed the Electronic Voting Machines could be rigged to make the former party win. Deciding to follow the paper ballot method, some Pakistani citizens have found out that many football stars are from their birth country. Or that is how the internet’s humoring the Football Twitter!

Already marred with controversies, some citizens have found out that the ballots have the names of some footballing superstars written on them. In a hilarious instance, the names of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar. The video went viral, with many people wondering how their names ended up on the ballot.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan elections have been filled with controversy, especially with former Prime Minister Imran Khan being barred for five years. He was recently sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment on various charges. The candidates from his party were also forced to contest independently due to the court stripping their electoral symbol. But, citizens have found a moment to humor even during such an intense situation.

Fans can’t stop laughing as the Football quartet ends up as voters 

When the video went viral, many fans were surprised to see the four Football stars as voters. One fan shared a photo of the four photoshopped to the bodies of some voters. Some Pakistan fans said the video exposed the corruption in the country as well.

Meanwhile, many fans argued that the country has a football fanbase as well. While some found humor while reading the ballot papers of, Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe!

The four stars are now in different phases of their careers. Ronaldo is currently in the Saudi Pro League, playing for Al Nassr after being exiled from the Manchester United team. He has been in the Riyadh-based club for over a year, winning a trophy. Neymar is also in the same league, joining Al Hilal in 2023. He is currently out injured thanks to a ruptured ACL and Meniscus. 

Messi recently joined David Beckham’s Inter Miami, after leaving PSG on a free. He is on tour with the team, participating in various pre-season tournaments ahead of the Major League Soccer. Kylian Mbappe currently is in the final few months of his contract with PSG. He has been rumored to be joining Real Madrid, but nothing is confirmed yet.
