Authorities had initially banned anyone from Germany from purchasing tickets for the UCL knockout clash due to security concerns. However, upon appealing, anyone who was a resident or born in Frankfurt was allowed to buy tickets.

The first leg in Frankfurt ended up being a 2-0 win to Napoli. Even though Khvicha Kvaratskhelia missed a penalty in the first half, goals from Victor Osimhen and Giovanni Di Lorenzo helped the Italian side breeze past the Frankfurt based club.
